MISA Canada Memorandum of Agreement Signed
Representatives of five municipal IT organizations have signed a memorandum of agreement to promote a national association that will serve as their common voice.
The memorandum of agreement provides the basis for the formation of MISA/ASIM Canada (Municipal Information Systems Association/Association des systèmes d'information municipale Canada).
The historic document was signed Saturday, May 14, at Saint-Sauveur, Quebec, on the evening preceding the start of the 9th annual Lac Carling conference on e-government.
The 10 signatories, two from each of the five municipal IT organizations, agreed to ask the executives of their organizations to formally agree to join MISA/ASIM Canada by October 1 of this year. Membership would be based on a draft By-laws and Operations Manual, which has been created in a series of meetings in recent months by the MISA/ASIM Canada Interim Executive and which was endorsed by the memorandum of agreement.
The five organizations intend to officially launch MISA/ASIM Canada in June 2006 in Ottawa, where the annual conference of MISA Ontario will take place.
