Member Special Offers: Detailed Information
MISA/ASIM Canada has established national licensing agreements with companies that are associate members of our five regional organizations.
Together these agreements constitute a new channel for purchasing goods and services – a one-stop Web page that contains special offers that are uniform across the country. This marks the first time that municipalities across Canada have had equitably priced access to the same products and services.
To date, 10 vendors have made offerings available at discounted prices available to qualifying municipalities – those that are members of MISA Atlantic, MISA BC, MISA Ontario, MISA Prairies or RIMQ.
For any inquiries to MISA/ASIM Canada about these special offers, please contact administrator Lawrence Moule, 416-662-3950, lmoule@sympatico.ca.
Adobe Systems Canada
In December 2007, MISA BC, Softchoice Vancouver and Adobe Systems Canada announced that they have renewed a two-year agreement under Adobe’s contractual licensing program (CLP) under which all municipalities within MISA/ASIM Canada member associations receive 12-per-cent discount pricing for Adobe products.
Adobe’s CLP programs are described at http://www.adobe.com/aboutadobe/openoptions/clp.html.
There are two options on how to participate based on your initial order:
- If your municipality orders very few Adobe products -- for example, an initial order of less than 1,000 Adobe points -- then you can continue to order using MISA BC’s CLP membership number. For example, Adobe Acrobat Pro = 450 points, Adobe Acrobat Std = 300 points
- If your municipality orders several Adobe products and can obtain 1,000 or more Adobe points on your initial order, then you can choose to have your own affiliate CLP membership number and still obtain the same MISA discount pricing. Benefits of having an independent membership enrolment include having:
- Unique serial numbers
- Free media downloads
- Purchase history reports.
Please contact your preferred Adobe authorized software reseller or Softchoice to ensure proper enrolment.
“eUniversity” Courses from Chalk Media
Please note:
The Chalk Media vendor special offer expires February 14, 2010. MISA is discussing a new special offer with an alternate vendor.
Member municipalities of the five associations within MISA/ASIM Canada can gain access to online training courses at affordable cost through a cooperative project of MISA BC and Chalk Media.
MISA BC has set up an “eUniversity” of more than 1,300 MindLeaders online courses from Chalk Media, available through an e-learning portal at www.misa.bc.ca.
The courses cover such subjects as Web development, business skills development and desktop computing, as well as training in technologies offered by many vendors. Subscribers can click on the Education button on the MISA BC home page and download courses using a password.
Course authoring software is available for organizations to produce their own courses. The agreement with Chalk also permits MISA BC to host vendor-supplied courses on the portal.
Any municipality within the membership of MISA/ASIM Canada associations wishing to make use of these courses is asked to contact Colin Redwood of the Corporation of Delta, chair of MISA BC’s Education Committee, at credwood@corp.delta.bc.ca.
