Special Offers Marketing Policy

Implemented February 2009

POLICY STATEMENT

Vendors and service providers may from time to time provide special offerings of their products and/or services directed to the MISA/ASIM Canada members and members of regional associations.  Such offerings that are of significant value to local governments may be publicized through the MISA/ASIM Canada Web site.

BACKGROUND

Regional member marketing is an accepted method for vendors to promote their special offers to the local governments in Canada.  Working with the municipal community is part of the value statement for regional associate members within MISA/ASIM Canada associations.  Regional members can obtain value from these special offers if the vendors tailor them to the specific needs of local governments and price them competitively.

Regional member marketing is not an opportunity for generic promotional material to be supplied by vendors and offered as special offerings.

A section of the MISA/ASIM Canada Web site will be devoted to these special offerings.  Member associations can link to this section and/or publicize the special offers themselves if they wish.

All vendors will be asked to negotiate their special offers with MISA/ASIM Canada by means of a standard contract, attached to this policy, effective from the date of policy adoption.

GUIDELINES
  1. All requests for special-offer marketing opportunities shall be reviewed for approval by the MISA/ASIM Canada Board.
  2. The MISA/ASIM Canada Board will manage this policy.  The Board may delegate responsibility for managing and negotiating any given special offer to one or more Board members.
  3. Special-offer marketing opportunity criteria:
    a. Value (product cost and service provided) must be significantly more advantageous than the vendor’s generic offering.
    b. Marketing opportunities must be in the form of firm pricing commitments for a predetermined time.
  4. Either the MISA/ASIM Canada Board or a special-offer vendor may terminate their arrangement at any time.  Advance notice of 30 days is requested on both sides.
  5. Vendors who wish to use MISA/ASIM Canada’s name in their promotional materials must first obtain written permission from the Board of Directors of MISA/ASIM Canada.  The association does not endorse or recommend one vendor’s product over another.  Vendor offerings are presented only for the membership’s consideration.  The association does not warrant or guarantee that the vendor’s offering will perform as stated by the vendor.
